In an interaction with Bollywood Bubble, Sanjay Kapoor talked about her daughter, Shanaya Kapoor making her film debut soon. Talking about the inevitable comparison that his baby girl might face with her other cousins, Sonam Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor, soon enough that she makes her film debut. Discussing more on it, Sanjay remarked that it was nothing new, as even in his generation, he used to face comparisons with her brother, Anil Kapoor. Expressing more, he said:
“See it doesn’t happen. Even in that time, when I came in and everything… it’s a very initial thing. For a film or two people talk about it, then they will forget about it. Today when a movie about Sonam comes, nobody talks about Sonam and Anil. When Arjun’s film comes, nobody speaks of Anil and Arjun or Arjun and me. It’s only for a film or two… it’s a normal thing, you have to take it in your stride. Finally, it’s your family, so you will be a little bit compared. After a while, it just dies a natural death. After that, it’s the kind of roles you do. Today especially the rules as soon different to when we started.”

Whenever there are comparisons, I think to myself that everyone’s on their own journey. You are your own individual; what you have, no one will have, and vice versa. I think that in our industry, it is important to have healthy competition. But, I am my main competition. I am constantly asking myself if I am better today than I was yesterday or a year ago. That is how I think one’s outlook should be.”
