The song ‘Jaate Hue Lamhon’ from Border 2 was launched in the presence of Ahan Shetty, Anyaa Singh, Bhushan Kumar, Nidhi Dutta, Vishal Mishra and Roop Kumar Rathod at a club in a defence area in Mumbai. The highlight was the presence of none other than Suniel Shetty, who featured in Border (1997). Interestingly, the sequel stars his son, Ahan.

Suniel Shetty took the mic and loudly chanted “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”. He then said, “This is a film that I am unable to forget and we try our best to ensure that people don’t forget this film either. When we wear a uniform, it’s like a makeover for us. But for you all, the defence forces, this uniform defines you. When I was offered this film, I was quite scared. I wondered, ‘Will I be able to play this character’? It’s somewhat easy to play a fictional character, but essaying a real-life person is challenging. But kudos to J P Dutta ji. And if the film’s second part is made, it’s thanks to J P ji’s daughter, Nidhi and also Bhushan ji. I have known both of them since childhood and have seen their struggle. Hats off to them for pulling off this film.”
Suniel continued, “This film wouldn’t have been made without Sunny Deol. When I was told that my character dies, I was quite excited as he dies for the country. But for the first time, I have got the feeling that if my character was alive, I would have been a part of Border 2! Woh uniform pehnne ki talab hamesha se rahi hai mujhe.”
He added, “I have been here since 6 pm and I am only getting love from all of you. I am also being appreciated big time for Border. This song means a lot to me because Roop ji sang this iconic track for me. And today, my son is a part of this song. He has got a chance to play a naval officer in his second film.”
Border 2 releases in cinemas on January 23.
