But, rather than having sour bonds, Aamir and his ex-wives share mutual respect. In a recent interview, Aamir Khan reflected on his marriage and bond with ex-wives.
Aamir Khan recalls his time with Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao
Aamir Khan has never avoided discussing his marriage and separation from his two ex-wives. Once again, in a recent interview with India Today, he recalled his love story with Reena Dutta. He discussed how he once wrote a love letter for her with his blood, which made her upset. Consequently, he realised that it was a wrong gesture. At the same time, the Secret Superstar actor recalled his runaway marriage with Reena and said:
“You know the important people I met in my life, like Reena – she and I were married when we were together for 16 years. It was a runaway marriage, humne bhaag ke shaadi ki thi. The most important relationships that I had in my life were with these wonderful people.”
Aamir Khan admitted that his former wives, Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, are amazing individuals. Since he spent most of his time with them, they gave him a lot in terms of effort, support, and more. The Lagaan actor added that despite his separation from both the women, his respect for them has not dimmed. In his words:
“These two women are the ones I have spent my life with, and they have given me a lot. We did go through a divorce, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have a lot of respect and love for each other. So maybe we have moved on in our relationship, but I have the highest regard for both Kiran and Reena and their families. In fact, I am close to mummy and daddy. Reena’s daddy died recently. I’m very close to their families.”
Aamir Khan opened up about his thoughts on the third marriage
Since the last few months, Pinkvilla alleged that Aamir Khan has found love for the third time in his wife with a woman named Gauri, and he introduced her to his family. There has been no update or confirmation on the news, but Aamir Khan, in a previous conversation with Rhea Chakraborty, opened up about his plans for tying the third time and said:
“I’m 59 now, abhi kahan shaadi karunga, mushkil laga raha hai. At this point, I’m very close to Reena, I’m very close to Kiran. We are one family. I don’t want to live alone. I want a partner. I’m not a loner. I like companionship.”
Aamir Khan’s personal life so far
Aamir Khan tied the knot with Reena Dutta in 1986. She played a brief role in his debut film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, and the couple welcomed a son, Junaid and a daughter, Ira. They parted ways in 2002 and divided the custody of their kids. The actor tied the knot for the second time with Kiran Rao, who had been an assistant director to Ashutosh Gowariker on the set of his film, Lagaan. They welcomed a son, Azad Rao Khan, via a surrogate on December 5, 2011. In 2021, the couple parted ways but continued to share a cordial bond and even worked together on the successful film, Laapataa Ladies.
