Vikrant Massey took the internet by storm after he made an unexpected announcement of quitting acting in 2025. Hours after the revelation, Vikrant made his first public appearance at the Parliament premises for the screening of his latest film, The Sabarmati Report, alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several MPs. Vikrant later cleared the air that his words were misinterpreted his stance, and he meant that he would take a break from acting and not leave it.
Vikrant Massey revealed why he took a break from acting
Vikrant Massey at the Agenda AajTak event revealed that he always dreamt of becoming an actor, and he finally achieved it. But he was not getting enough time with his family. He realised that he was doing everything for his family, and if he was not getting time for them, then this needed to be changed. This is why he took a break from acting and decided to do one film a year. In Vikrant’s words:
“The life I had always dreamt of, I finally got it, so I thought it was time to live it. I want to take a break because, at the end of the day, everything is transient, which is why I am only doing one film next year. Social media pressure was an important part of sharing that break from work post, that I concede. I lead a public life, and am borderline introvert-ish. One has to come to social media. But if someone were to give me an option, I would come selectively on it, whenever I would feel like sharing something.”
Vikrant added that social media played a huge part in influencing his decision. He is an introvert, and public life drives him crazy. So taking a break was the best solution. Vikrant further added:
“And then my son was born, I was not able to spend any quality time with him or my wife. All of this was happening simultaneously. So, which is why I had written in that Instagram post, that as an actor, son, father and as a husband, it was time for me to recalibrate. And after doing what I had done professionally, I thought, ‘what else could I have done more as an actor in this country?’ I just want to better myself as an artiste going forward.”

Vikrant has been in the industry for more than two decades now. At the Times Network India Economic Conclave presented by IDFC FIRST Bank, with National Leaders and Global Experts, the 37-year-old actor credited his wife for bringing good fortune in his life. He spoke in the interview about the reason for touching Sheetal’s feet and how she deserved respect. However, interestingly, the actor revealed that he would be taking a break from acting after completing two films in 2025, to focus on his family. Vikrant added:
“I believe she’s truly the Laxmi for me. She’s brought fame and good things is my life. Why can’t I give her the same respect that she gives me?”
Vikrant Massey on his son calling ‘Papa’ in his absence
Vikrant and Sheetal were blessed with a baby boy on February 7, 2024. The actor, in the same interview with Times Now Digital, expressed his commitment to his family. He said that he was seeing that his son was growing up quickly. He wanted to see that, go back home and do the household tasks. He also said that he did not want to miss his son’s important milestones. In the words of the actor:
“My son started saying ‘Papa’ in my absence, he got his first tooth in my absence. It is true when people said “they grow up so fast!” Now he’s attempting to walk. If he doesn’t learn to walk holding my finger, what’s the use of this money, fame? I want to spend that time with him.”
