Eligibility Criteria
All actors with at least one film (theatrical or OTT) or web-series in a lead role released between January 2021 and December 2023, or at least one GEC (general entertainment category) show in the lead role with 100+ episodes in 2023, with footfalls/viewership of 1 million or more in India, were considered. The Power List is not a ranking and is arranged in alphabetical order.
Parameters
-
Audience Size: Average footfalls/viewership of all properties in a lead role, in the eligible time period.
-
Opening Audience: Average opening weekend audience of all properties in a lead role, in the eligible time period. For TV shows and for properties released on weekdays, the first three days were considered.
-
Popularity: Popularity share on Ormax Stars India Loves (only for theatrical).
-
Audience Likeability: Average Ormax Power Rating (OPR) of all properties in a lead role, in the eligible time period.
-
Social Media Following: Peak platform (typically Instagram, though could be YouTube for some stars) following.
Steps
-
On each of the five parameters, eligible actors were scored. Actors who feature in the top 25 on at least one parameter were shortlisted for further analysis.
-
Among these shortlisted actors, rank points were assigned. For example, if the shortlist has 52 actors, the top-ranking actor on any parameter were assigned 52 points, no. 2 actor 51 points, and so on, with the no. 52 actor being assigned 1 point.
-
For the third parameter, since all actors in the shortlist may not have acted in a theatrical film in a lead role, only the relevant actors were assigned points. For example, if out of the 52 actors, 34 have a theatrical film release in the period, they were assigned points from 52 (top rank) to 19 (34th rank).
-
For each actor, cumulative points were calculated across the parameters by giving weightages to the parameters. For actors who have done theatrical films, this weightage was 15%, 20%, 30%, 15% and 20%. For other actors, this was 25%, 25%, 0%, 25%, 25%. Ranking based on cumulative points was used to identify the Top 25 as the power list.
