Smriti Irani is not just an actress-turned-politician, but an enigmatic personality through and through. Smriti Irani reveals she has done production, direction and writing apart from acting
In a recent interaction with Pinkvilla, Smriti Irani opened up about various unheard talents of her career. Apart from being an actress, she remarked having taken part in scripting and conceptualising of shows, as well as been involved in production and direction levels of the shows. Expressing how she wrote the show, Virrudh for Sony TV, Smriti said:
“There are parts of my career that are not known. I have written a show for Sony TV called Virrudh. Not many people know I wrote. I wrote it with the writer Kamlesh Pandey who wrote Rang De Basanti. But I produced it. So, I have done production, I have done post production, I have sat on edits, I have done direction, I have done acting, I have done writing.”

Smriti Irani claims her stint as ‘Tulsi’ over-powered her other talents
Moving further in the revelation, Smriti Irani revealed that despite having done so much work behind the camera for several shows, it has always been her on-screen character of ‘Tulsi’ and the associated fame with it, that has overpowered all her other talents. She added that her media career was surely not restricted to being an actress. In her words:
“There were many parts of my media background that never came to the fore, that’s because Tulsi part was so overwhelming. But my media life was not restricted to by me just being an actor.”
Smriti Irani revealed the kind of self-restrictions she placed in her career
Earlier, in an interaction with Brut, Smriti Irani revealed the various conditions she levied herself on her career, when it came to choosing certain kinds of work she preferred or not preferred to be associated with. The actress-turned-politician revealed that she never wished to be a part of pan masala ads, and so did she have an avarice against performing at weddings.

When Smriti revealed her first job at the age of 7 was to sell cosmetics on the streets
Previously, in an interview with Curly Tales, Smriti Irani recalled certain hardships she faced in her life, quite early on. The former actress remarked that she and her family were thrown out of their rented home and they all faced a major financial crisis at that point of time. Smriti then revealed how she ended up selling cosmetics on the streets of Delhi, at the mere age of 7, so as to earn money. In her words:
“Saat saal ki umar ki thi when we were thrown out of our house. Meri jo pehli naukri thi woh thi beauty products bechna sadak pe. Din ke dihari they 200 rupay.”
