The BJP-led NDA on Monday filed a grievance with the district collector towards VS Sunil Kumar, the CPI candidate from Kerala’s Thrissur, for allegedly violating the ballot code.
According to the grievance, Kumar violated the ballot code by posting an image with actor Tovino Thomas, who’s an envoy for the Election Commission’s Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation programme (SVEEP).
Ravikumar Uppath, the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) Thrissur district coordinator, filed the grievance with the district collector, who can also be the returning officer for the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency, alleging that the Left chief misused the actor’s {photograph} to hunt votes and, therefore, violated the Model Code of Conduct.
The grievance stated the Left candidate and staff used the {photograph} for ballot campaigning and requested the returning officer to not permit Kumar to contest the elections.
