Accepting his Best Actor Oscar for the biopic Oppenheimer, Irish actor Cillian Murphy gave a shout-out to his homeland, saying, ‘I’m a really proud Irishman standing right here tonight.’
‘I’m little overwhelmed. Thank you to the Academy, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas. It’s been the wildest, most exhilarating, most creatively satisfying journey you have taken me on for the final 20 years; I owe you greater than I can say.’
To the forged and crew, he added, ‘Every single crew member, each single forged member of Oppenheimer you guys carried me via.
‘All my fellow nominees, I stay in awe of you guys, really,’ he stated.
‘I wish to thank my unimaginable group, large shout-out to Craig Franky, Brendan Murphy, Mary Murphy, my two boys Malachy and Aran who’re sitting up there.’
In closing, Murphy added, ‘We made a movie in regards to the man who created the atomic bomb, and for higher or for worse, we’re all residing in Oppenheimer’s world, so I’d actually prefer to dedicate this to the peacemakers in all places.’

Murphy received over Bradley Cooper (Maestro), Colman Domingo (Rustin), Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers) and Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction).
Earlier, Murphy received the Best Actor award for Oppenheimer on the BAFTA Awards and Golden Globe Awards.
