Actor-turned-politician Vijay, who not too long ago launched his political occasion Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), has strongly opposed the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Tamil Nadu.

Recently, the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the official notification of CAA guidelines, 4 years after the Act’s passing by Parliament. This transfer has been met with important criticism, together with from opposition leaders like Vijay.

Taking to his occasion’s official social media account, Vijay launched an announcement in Tamil condemning the CAA. The assertion interprets to: “It is not acceptable to implement any law like the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 (CAA) in an environment where all citizens of the country live with social harmony. The leaders should ensure that this law does not get implemented in Tamil Nadu.”

It’s important to note that Vijay’s political party, TVK, has previously declared it will not contest the 2024 elections and will remain independent.

On the cinematic front, Vijay’s latest film, the action-thriller Leo co-starring Sanjay Dutt and Trisha Krishnan, received a positive audience reception. He is currently filming his next project, tentatively titled Thalapathy 68, directed by Venkat Prabhu. Thalapathy has not signed any other project due to the beginning of his political career. 

For the unversed, in February, Thalapathy Vijay officially announced the name of his political party as Tamilaga Vetri Kazham. In a statement, he said, “We usually are not going to contest the 2024 elections and we aren’t going to any occasion. We have made this resolution on the General and Executive Council Meeting.”
