She added, “Otherwise, to create a campaign on your own is very difficult. It’s like doing a lot of press in LA and you only get 4-5 weeks to do it if you haven’t gone to any festival before. So that is very difficult if you don’t have an American distributor. And that’s the reason why maybe we haven’t been able to win in the Feature Film category. We have won in Short Films category because there is no such process of choosing.”
Guneet Monga additionally believes that this must be the protocol for profitable the Feature movie award. “If we only wish to do some screenings over there, we are anyways doing that. For example, Lagaan was distributed by Sony Pictures Classics and it went so far ahead. Likewise, for The Elephant Whisperers, there was Netflix. Netflix did a lot of hard work with us and we did our campaign with them. We had an American distributor and that’s why we were able to go so ahead.”
